Award-winning Reading deli to open new bar in town centre

An award-winning deli located in Reading town centre has announced an opening date for its new bar. The Grumpy Goat is a craft beer and cheese shop that sits on Union Street – otherwise known as ‘smelly alley’.

The independent business sells a wide variety of different beers and cheeses and even has its own merchandise. Customers to the shop can opt to buy beer and cheese, locally supplied honey, chutneys, coffee beans, chocolates, and biscuits. On Tuesdays, the shop also makes and sells cheese toasties.

No stranger to accolades, the deli was recently named as being one of the best in the southeast. It opened back in 2013 but has been based at Union Street in Reading since 2020.
