Jollibee in Reading gets mixed reviews six months on with one left craving KFC

People have shared their thoughts on Jollibee six months after it first opened its doors in Reading.

Jollibee is a fast-food chain that opened its first restaurant in 1978, serving a combination of American-style cuisine with a Filipino flair.

The restaurant – much loved for its fried chicken – first opened its doors to British customers in 2018 when its first outlet in London and since then they have expanded and opened up in multiple other locations including, of course, Reading.

The Reading branch welcomed customers for the first time on September 9, 2021.

It’s been almost six months since the opening and customers have had a lot to say about the restaurant and the type of food it sells.

Whilst most people are relatively happy with the “tasty chicken”, others are not best pleased.

One person said that she would “never again” go to Jollibee again after they messed up her order.

On Tripadvisor, LuciaSulit said: “Even though my first visit wasn’t very pleasant, I thought I’d give it a second visit with my daughter as she was so looking forward to trying the food here.

“We ordered two yum burger meals with cheese, chicken joy meal, and a mango sundae.

“They messed up our orders and we finally got them, the burgers were cold so I took them back and told the lady that it was cold.

“She looked at me, felt the burgers with her hands. I told her I wasn’t eating a cold burger. She then told me that she’s making me fresh ones. The replacement was also cold. Burger buns were old. The cheese was supposed to be melting but it wasn’t. The chicken was greasy. The only good thing was the rice.”

She ended the review by saying “We should have gone to KFC!”

Most other customers love the restaurant, however, and all the delights it has to offer.

Tasty treats include Chickenjoy Buckets, Loaded Fries, and Yumburgers.

‘Tasty chicken’ and ‘yummy burgers’

One Tripadvisor user, Montyf1 from Reading titled their review “Tasty Chicken” and said that the chicken was “well-cooked”.

They said: “I was introduced to the joy of Jollibee by my Filipino work colleagues. This is the second time I have visited.

“The food was tasty and well cooked and the chicken pieces were generous in size.”

They went on to say that Jollibee’s “offering” is “far superior” to other “fast-food competition”.

User georgitaf said: “I visited this place first time today, chicken burger was awesome.
