Legoland Windsor: Bizarre TripAdvisor reviews including a person who said they’d prefer ‘root canal surgery’

Berkshire’s Legoland Windsor is one of the county’s biggest family attractions.

Thousands of people from around the country come to visit the park, which boasts a whopping 55 rides and attractions.

Despite the Covid pandemic forcing Legoland to close, it is now back with a vengeance, with staff preparing for October half-term visitors.

Legoland was recently named one of the best theme parks in the country, but it is clearly not for everyone as some of the TripAdvisor reviews are quite scathing.

A lot of the poor reviews focus on how busy the park is and how long it takes to get on some of the rides.

Others highlight slightly more unusual aspects, and that’s what we’re looking at today.

“They clearly cannot cook steak”

Staff need some cooking lessons, according to this poster.

After enjoying the Flight of the Sky Lion ride, the day got worse and the family found a lot of the attractions were closed.

They said: “It ruined my son’s birthday and it is a birthday we will never get back We ate in the tavern in the Castle Hotel and mostly it was OK and 100% better than the bricks restaurant but the steak was hard and chewy and they need to learn from Miller and Carter as they clearly cannot cook steak!!!

“Not a good atmosphere for young kinds”

One reviewer made an interesting comment on their visit, saying there’s not a great deal for very young children at the park.

They said: “Not a good atmosphere for young kids, for whom rides are extremely limited (my experience with a three year old anyway).

They also said they “literally spent the entire time queuing” and that the “queue jump” tickets are “ridiculously expensive.”

“Dilapidated, dirty and underwhelming”

Another reviewer said the park did not live up to their expectations.

They said: “Absolutely abysmal.

“Legoland Windsor has deteriorated severely since our last visit 8 years ago into a dilapidated, dirty, overpriced and underwhelming park.

“As a healthcare professional, of most concern is the utter contempt and lack of care for visitor safety or COVID precautions.

“We visited with two children and fully expected it to be busy at the end of August but the conditions were beyond appalling: toilets overflowing with soiled nappies, no cleaning of public areas, no cleaning/sanitising of rides between uses and indoor queues packed shoulder to shoulder without any airflow.

“Staff are thinly spread, apathetic and clearly exhausted (apart from in the areas designed to make Lego yet more profit e.g food outlets, photo booths and tacky fairground stalls).

“Queues for most of the rides (those not for toddlers) was in excess of 60-90 minutes and ultimately not worth it.

“Add on the insult that you have to pay for parking and you have one of the most mediocre days out possible. Even the kids said they wouldn’t want to go again.

“Avoid.”

“My little boy spat the sausage out”

Another reviewer took it upon themselves to post a top 10 of complaints, one of which said: “We ordered food from the fish and chip shop, and the quality was appalling… The chips were dry and had no flavour and my little boy spat the sausage out as he said it was dry and tasted nasty!”

Other complaints including the cleanliness of the park, the quality of the shows and “The cost of everything is so expensive.”

Clearly not a great day out .

“The worst theme park experience of our lives”

This reviewer did not mince their words.

They said: “They should be ashamed of themselves.

“We would rather travel to Eurodisney then ever come back here.

“It’s a shame really as close as they are we hoped to come once a month for fun. But this was NOT fun!!!!

“Worse theme park experience ever. They should be ashamed of themselves. And I NEVER write a bad review.”

“A preferable day out would be a days’ root canal surgery”

One reviewer did not hold back, saying: “A simply dreadful experience.

“If you enjoy queuing for very mediocre rides and being ripped off then this is the place for you.

“Far too many visitors allowed in daily ruined the day.

“I recommend you avoid it like the plague and a preferable day out would be asking your dentist for a days’ root canal surgery without anaesthetic.”

And the good

Of course, there are plenty of good reviews too – 5,200 compared to the 3,729 ‘terrible’ reviews.

One said: “Fantastic day out today. Very, very satisfied and I will be back. Love the Flight of the Sky Lion. Great.

Another said: “We love visiting Legoland, there is loads to do.

“The staff are friendly and helpful.

“I would recommend paying a little extra for priority parking if you can, it was really helpful after a long day to be parked near the entrance, which also helped get out the carpark quicker!”

Another reviewer wrote: “Excellent day out at Legoland Windsor. [It] was great to be back after not being able to go last year. The kids (and adults) all came home very happy.

“Quite a lot has changed in the park since our 2019 visit. So much to do and see. Hard to do everything thing in one day. Can’t complain though all the attractions are great and are of high quality.”
