Reading pub releases its Christmas Day menu ready for the festive season

It’s almost the end of the summer holidays, but fear not, as this means that the countdown to Christmas is now on for some. With 124 days to go, some businesses are already preparing for the festive period.

A popular pub in east Reading looks to be the amongst the first gearing up for the season. The Lyndhurst, which is located at 88 Queen’s Road, has just announced its festive menu.

Turkey, gravy, and all the trimming s are guaranteed, and if you have the room you could also order a chocolate marquis or some warm and sticky date pudding. The festive menu will run from December 1 to 23 December, with two courses costing £24.95, and three courses costing £29.95. There’s also a Christmas Day menu, which is available on December 25.

The pub announced its festive menus online on Monday, August 22. It read: “We are thrilled to be able to share our Christmas Festive & Christmas Day menus with you . The Christmas Day menu:

Starters:

Jerusalem artichoke soup with artichoke crisps and truffle oil

Wild pigeon salad with pastilla of pigeon leg, date puree, and pickled turnips

Tartare of marinated organic salmon with avocado, beetroot, and caviar

Roasted heritage beetroot, burrata, courgette chutney, and watercress

Mains:

Oyster mushroom chestnuts and celeriac wellington, celeriac puree, and red onion sauce

Pan fried wild seabass, braised baby leeks, ravioli, lobster bisque sauce

Roasted fillet of beef, braised ox cheeks croquette, shallot puree, black truffle sauce

Roast Norfolk Turkey breast, confit turkey leg with apricot and chestnut stuffing, pigs in blankets and port and wine sauce

All mains served with roast potatoes, braised red cabbage, carrots, and Brussel sprouts

Desserts:

Traditional Christmas pudding with brandy sauce

Clementine and gingerbread trifle

Chocolate Delice, Morello cherries, cherry ice cream

Selection of local cheeses with pear chutney, grape, celery, and crackers

Cauliflower and parmesan soup with crispy cauliflower pakora

English goats curd salad with hazelnuts, beetroot, and honeycomb

Gin and fennel cured loch Duart salmon with pickled cucumber and horseradish creme fraiche

Ham hock terrine with piccalilli and sourdough toast

Mains:

Pumpkin and sage tortelloni with pumpkin puree, toasted hazelnuts, and parmesan

Pan-fried fillet of sea bream, crushed new potatoes with prawns, and sauce bouillabaisse

Slow-cooked beef feather blade with mash potatoes and winter greens

Escalope of turkey with sage and onion stuffing in blankets, roast potatoes, and port wine sauce

All mains are served with braised red cabbage, carrots, and Brussel sprouts

Desserts:

Traditional Xmas pudding with brandy anglaise

Chocolate marquis with salted caramel ice cream

Warm sticky ginger and date pudding with vanilla ice cream

Orange posset with blackberry compote and almond shortbread
