Reading weather: Berkshire set for 27C sunshine as ‘Mediterranean plume’ heads to the UK

Temperatures of as high as 27C are heading for Berkshire this week according to expert forecasters.

An underwhelming August will be blown away by the warm start to the week as the Met Office has predicted that Reading will enjoy three days of scorching sunshine.

The good weather is due as warm air will be dragged into the UK from the Mediterranean as a so-called ‘Spanish plume’ makes its way north to our humble isles.

The forecasters say that Monday, September 6 will start with ‘mist changing to cloudy by late morning’ but the Berks town will see temperatures of 27C by 3pm.

It’ll stay that hot in Reading through Tuesday, September 7 and Wednesday, September 8, as the foggy start to Tuesday gives way to sunshine until Thursday, September 9.

That’s when the temperature will drop to 22C as ‘light showers changing to overcast by late morning’ are expected.

The weather is predicated to mimic that in Slough, while Bracknell will see similar temperatures, as highs of 26C are expected on Monday.

But the same heat is forecast for the rest of the week although Maidenhead will be 27C until Thursday.

There’s a slightly lower temperature in Wokingham on Monday again, with 26C predicted, but both Newbury and Thatcham will enjoy the best of the weather.
