Windsor: Police reveal security measures for day of Prince’s funeral

POLICE have told residents additional security measures will be in place in Windsor today, as the funeral of Prince Philip continues.

Thames Valley Police released a statement to their website at around 9.40am this morning, reminding those looking to visit the town that the Royal Household has asked for people to pay their respects from home.

Residents have been asked to pay their respects by watching television coverage, joining in with the minute’s silence, or by signing the online book of condolence. 

This is in a bid to prevent further spread of the Coronavirus. 

Royal Borough Observer:

A spokesman for the Thames Valley Police said: “Today the funeral of HRH Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh will take place in Windsor.

“Thames Valley Police would like to remind those heading to the town to be aware of additional security measures in place for your safety.

“Our officers will be out and about on patrol in Windsor as normal and there will be a range of visible and not so visible security measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety.

“We would especially encourage everyone who is in Windsor today to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to officers immediately.

“The public are our additional eyes and ears for the force. If you see or hear something suspicious, please report it to officers.”
