Yoga and Pilates courses in Windsor

Yoga means Union or to join. Hatha Yoga is the union of the body and the breath. Ha means Sun and Tha means Moon. These two elements are masculine and feminine forces and by yoga practice many imbalances and diseases experienced in the human organism may be cured or prevented. For some, Yoga is a way of life and and for others a practical discipline which maintains fitness. By embracing yoga in a regular sense we may harness growth on a number of levels and receive an insight into the truer essence of our being.

The Pilates method is a system of movement and therapeutic exercise developed over a span of 60 years by German born athlete and physical therapy pioneer, Joseph Pilates. His method was influenced by western forms of exercise, including gymnastics, boxing and Greco-Roman wrestling.

Pilates immigrated to the US in the 1920s and opened a studio in New York, where he taught his method – which he called contrology – for several decades.

There is an increase in young adults with poor posture as a result of bad postural habits, low self-esteem and confidence. This causes immediate discomfort and can create more serious health issues in the future. Pilates has proven to rectify these postural habits, as the technique re-aligns the skeleton and surrounding muscles, which helps the body to become strong and balanced.
